" Some friendships don't last foreve "
Chapter 1: The Beginning of Everything
Babbu and Mehak had been inseparable since childhood. From
the moment they met in second grade, they had been more than just friends—they
were like siblings. Their days were filled with stolen rides on Babbu’s
bicycle, cricket matches in the dusty neighborhood alley, and whispered secrets
beneath the old banyan tree in the park. Life was simple, and their friendship
was unbreakable—or so they thought.
Chapter 2: The First Cracks
As they grew older, life started to shift. Babbu was an
introvert, drawn towards books and solitude, while Mehak was outgoing, always
at the center of every gathering. Their differences had never mattered before,
but in high school, they started feeling them more than ever. Mehak found new
friends—loud, confident ones who enjoyed parties and late-night adventures.
Babbu, on the other hand, spent his evenings reading and focusing on his dreams
of becoming a writer.
Their conversations grew shorter. Messages went unanswered.
And slowly, without either of them noticing, the bond they had shared for over
a decade began to fade.
Chapter 3: The Unspoken Words
One evening, Babbu decided to call Mehak. It had been weeks
since they last spoke. The phone rang several times before Mehak finally picked
up.
"Hey man, long time!" Mehak said, her voice
cheerful but distant.
"Yeah, it’s been a while. How have you been?"
"Oh, you know, busy with stuff. Exams, friends, life…
the usual."
Babbu hesitated before asking, "Do you want to meet up?
Just like old times?"
There was a pause. "I would, bro, but I have plans
tonight. Maybe another day?"
Babbu smiled weakly. "Yeah. Another day."
But that day never came.
Chapter 4: The Final Goodbye
Years passed. They both went to different universities,
lived in different cities, and built separate lives. Babbu still thought about
Mehak sometimes, wondering if she missed him too. One day, he came across an
old photo of them—standing side by side under the banyan tree, grinning like
they owned the world.
Impulsively, he sent a message.
"Hey Mehak, it’s been a long time. How have you
been?"
The message was read. But no reply came.
Babbu sighed. Perhaps some friendships weren’t meant to last
forever.
He put the photo away, took a deep breath, and walked
forward—into a world where Mehak was just a memory.
The End. 😥
